How to Use Ask Sev (AI Assistant) #

Ask Sev is Insight7’s AI assistant that helps you extract insights from your data by answering questions about your calls, transcripts, and surveys. This guide shows you how to use Ask Sev effectively.

Accessing Ask Sev #

Step 1: Navigate to Ask Questions #

  1. Login to your Insight7 account at https://insight7.io
  2. Click on Analyze in the main navigation
  3. Select Ask Questions

Step 2: Choose Your Question Type #

You’ll see three question modes:

Single Question

  • Ask Sev questions about your data and get a general response
  • Best for: Overall insights, summaries, and high-level analysis

Analysis Grid

  • Ask questions and get individual responses for each transcript
  • Best for: Comparing responses across multiple calls or files

Analysis Surveys

  • Analyze surveys and get individual responses for each survey
  • Best for: Survey data analysis and individual respondent insights

Using Single Question Mode #

Step 3: Select Single Question #

  1. Click on Single Question
  2. This mode allows you to ask general questions about your entire dataset

Step 4: Upload Your Files #

  1. Click Upload Files
  2. Select the calls, transcripts, or documents you want to analyze
  3. Wait for files to upload successfully

Asking Questions with Suggested Prompts #

Once your files are uploaded, you’ll see two tabs:

Suggested Tab #

Pre-built question templates organized by action type:

Summarize #

  • Summarize this dataset – Get a high-level overview of all your data
  • Summarize for Key Insights – Extract the most important findings
  • Provide a sentiment analysis of this dataset – Understand overall emotional tone

Extract #

  • Identify similarities and differences across the files – Compare patterns across calls
  • Extract insights and corresponding quotes about ________ – Find specific topic-related feedback
  • Segment this participants data based on the key insights from the conversations – Group by common themes
  • Identify patterns/trends across the dataset – Discover recurring themes
  • Highlight positive feedback mentioned in this dataset – Find what’s working well
  • Highlight negative feedback mentioned in this dataset – Identify problems and complaints
  • Extract frequently mentioned keywords – See what topics come up most often

Ask #

  • What are the pain points expressed? – Identify customer frustrations
  • What recommendations were made in this dataset? – Find suggestions from calls
  • What unmet needs were mentioned in this dataset? – Discover gaps in your offering
  • What improvements can be made, based on the contents of this dataset? – Get actionable next steps

Generate #

  • Brainstorm blogpost topic ideas from the files – Create content ideas from insights
  • Brainstorm blogpost topic ideas with outline and content for each – Get detailed content frameworks

Saved Tab #

Access questions you’ve previously saved for quick reuse:

  • View your saved question templates
  • Rerun frequently used analyses
  • Maintain consistency in reporting

Getting Your Answers #

Step 5: Select a Question #

  1. Click on any suggested question that matches your goal
  2. For questions with blanks (e.g., “Extract insights about ________”), fill in the specific topic
  3. Click Start Analysis or the analyze button

Step 6: View Results #

Your analyses show up in the results section:

  • Sev will process your data and provide detailed answers
  • Results appear based on your question type
  • Review insights, quotes, and patterns identified

Tips for Effective Questions #

Start with Summaries

  • Begin with “Summarize this dataset” to understand your data
  • Use this as a foundation for deeper questions

Be Specific When Extracting

  • Instead of broad questions, focus on specific topics
  • Example: “Extract insights about pricing concerns” vs. “Extract insights”

Use Multiple Question Types

  • Combine summarize, extract, and ask questions for comprehensive analysis
  • Example workflow: Summarize → Extract pain points → Ask for recommendations

Save Frequently Used Questions

  • Save questions you run regularly
  • Build a library of standard analyses
  • Maintain consistency across reporting periods

Leverage Generate Features

  • Turn insights into content and action items
  • Use for marketing, training, or product documentation

  1. Upload customer interview transcripts
  2. Ask: “What are the pain points expressed?”
