How to Use Segmentation

Want to understand not just what speakers are saying, but who is saying it and how different groups think? Insight7’s Segmentation feature helps you automatically organize conversations by key attributes and uncover patterns across customer segments.

Accessing Segmentation

Step 1: Go to Analyze → Segmentation

  1. Log in to your Insight7 account
  2. From your dashboard, click Analyze → Segmentation

Step 2: Auto-Extract Attributes

Once you’re in Segmentation, Insight7 will automatically extract common attributes across your conversations.

What it extracts:

  • Behavioral attributes – Actions, usage patterns, engagement levels
  • Demographic attributes – Age, location, job title, role
  • Firmographic attributes – Company size, industry, revenue
  • Psychographic attributes – Motivations, attitudes, preferences

Step 3: Review and Customize Attributes

You’ll see all extracted attributes listed. From here, you can:

  • Add attributes – Include additional data points relevant to your analysis
  • Remove attributes – Clean up irrelevant or duplicate attributes

Running the Analysis

Option 1: Auto-Segment

Click Auto-Segment to let Insight7 automatically group your conversations based on the extracted attributes.

What it does:

  • Organizes conversations into meaningful segments
  • Surfaces patterns and differences across groups
  • Shows you which segments share common themes or concerns

Option 2: Ask Questions and Segment

Ask targeted questions about specific segments, then segment your data based on the results.

How to use it:

  1. Upload your call recordings, transcripts, or feedback data
  2. Let Insight7 extract attributes automatically
  3. Review and customize the attributes as needed
  4. Click Auto-Segment or ask questions to segment your data
  5. Explore insights across different customer groups

Tip:

Use Segmentation to compare customers vs. prospects, identify feature requests by user type, or see how messaging resonates across different personas. It’s perfect for uncovering what matters most to each segment of your audience.
